News RoundUp

Man take a day away from computers and BANG tons of news. I wouldn't even both telling you about it but some of it is interesting on a personal level and therefore I thought maybe some of you would be interested jusy in case you hadn't heard yet. :)

From Yahoo there are two stories (actually they are from Assoc. Press via Yahoo) the first is the big news of Apple dropping the price of the iPhone by $200 along with the new iPods. The second is what I feel a response to that in Microsoft dropping the price of the ZUNE by $50 from $249 to $199 though the article says it's been in the books for some time. I find this interesting because the iPhone is rather new on the market and to get such a huge price drop is kind of a slap in the face to those who spent all that money to get one. I know it's designed to work that way but it still has to sting.
UPDATE: I guess I was right from what this article says. :)

In other news from MS they have released flash lite, oops sorry, Silverlight 1.0. I know I should be nicer but it's kind of hard when MS first announced Silverlight 1.0 and 1.1 basically in the same breath how can you take the 1.0 seriously? 1.1 has all the cool whiz bang stuff and 1.0 just seems like an also ran kind of product. Anyways, you can read more about it from this NewsFactor article. If you want more info or to download Silverlight you can go directly to Microsoft's download page for it. Microsoft has also released a new all in one kind of installer for their Windows Live products.

And finally, Intel introduces their first crop of Quad Core Processors. I wonder how long before they reach normal desktops. :)
