Well this is good/bad news. Seems Banshee has finally switched from libgphoto to libmtp. Alan McGovern talks about it in his MonoTorrent blog. This is good as I always thought it strange that a music app required a photo library. :) I realize the technical reason for it and again you can read about it in Alan's post if you are interested. Then there is how it always seemed like libgphoto would have support for my Digital Audio Player in the NEXT release. Waiting for stuff like that is never fun. The bad is now that Banshee will be able to handle my DAP my little unannounced project seems less important as it was a syncing program for it that used libmtp.
So now I have to figure out if I should continue moving forward with it or do like I normally do and lose interest and be happy that SOMETHING works instead of something I did working. The other idea which I just had while writing this is to change my app into a Banshee plugin. Hmmm... I'll ponder on that a bit more... :)
For anyone who wants to try the new libmtp plugin for Banshee you can look to the About MTP page on the Banshee site for instruction on getting it working.
