Grrrr

Okay, I need help. I've been editing files using GEdit. I have a wheel mouse. I'm running GNOME. I think I have figured out what is happening but I'm hoping someone else has run into this and has a possible solution.

Here's my problem, the text files end up with random text placed in random places. What I think has happened is when I am using the wheel mouse to scroll the text it is inadvertently pasting from the clipboard. If it isn't that then it is something even more insidious.

I can't tell if it is just the setting with the wheel mouse (possible but I didn't set anything different from what was detected by Ubuntu), GNOME (since it isn't always clear what GNOME is doing), or GEdit itself (again possible but in this case I hope not).
